Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Layoffs coming with 3/1 earnings

Dangerous time for JWN FTEs, the dead time after the holidays. Projects and teams can still be regrouped and remotivated by summer.

Yeah, wtf with the signature song? It has more blatant se-ual overtones than ´let’s get it on’. And the inclusive portion of the nordstrom cares website??? It’s paradoxical at best. My direct supervisor referred to an ex coworker as a fa* and outed a former coworker as trans.

Rocket $jwn AH on earnings. Over $26, +33%, wish I had bought calls on the downdraft during RTH. Still have $spy calls, expecting a surge into next week. $jwn now, need to read the earnings report for details.

Congrats Nordies.

Predictions: beat on revenue + earnings tomorrow, stock is happy, but some restructuring/RIFs to stay on track.

@shiny empty building in NYC - could it be the Nordstrom bros spending money on the most asinine projects that have nothing to do with sales? Podcasts, “signature songs”, I’m really waiting for what’s next. Every new non-related nord project the bros take on in the name of nord reminds me of how they’re not stepping up to pay employees enough to live in the large metro cities their stores reside in.

It’s almost as if the Nordstrom brothers want to do anything and everything except actually run their company hahaha

Profits for the fiscal year will be terrible -- expenses are through the roof.
