A very common comparable idiom is “To cut the Head of the Snake.” It means to stop a larger problem by aiming at the source, often the leader or a major culprit! Again I said this problem for a million times that Belk is losing money, losing quality Belk workers, losing customers, losing market shares and get so panic now or does not know what to do by cutting hours from Belk workers to save nickel and dime!
