Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Comp discussions

I know pay increases aren’t linked to inflation, but rather market data…but a 2.6% increase seems pretty low. How’d it go for anyone else?

What are the chances they will offer another VSP since the first one was due to the COVID outbreak?

I'm to the point where I'm just hanging out. I'll continue to work from home and do just enough to get by. Hoping for another vsp next mkt crash or even just regular severance. Honestly with all the talk that TIAA doesn't want to be a diversified firm anymore my dept. could go the way of life insurance, charitable giving, mortgage lending, etc anyday. It's a WE thing.

In 2016 the top 40 execs and the trustees got paid $86 million. They say they’re an open book on their website, but you need to do a FOIA REQUEST for that info of pay for the senior managers just below the “C” suite. It really is obscene when you consider how poorly managed TIAA is. Any company that offers severance to 75% of their workforce is not well managed. 2-3 percent when everyone has gone through he-l the past few years is an insult. They don’t value their employees at all.

This company has held me back. I’ve been around for too long in exchange for the lack of respect that I’m given in return. 17 years in and a 3% raise is a slap in the face (given what the market has done)… my bonus has gone down drastically over the last few years and I finished in the top 25% of my group each year. The top brass get all the money. I’ve been told to be leery of “not for profit” companies in the past, now I’m witnessing the reason why.
New CEO wanted to get as many vaccinated as possible so she could look good when she met with Biden.
Fergusson departed during a “pandemic”… odd!
We went from Chair of the Fed to what? A CEO with a banking background and 1/3 of the experience of Roger (if that).
This is bu-----t! RIP TIAA.

The majority of my team got 3-5% salary increase and bonus is about the same as last year or slightly better. 30% of my team (that Im aware of) is looking for jobs outside or already securing their next position externally. I genuinely feel sorry for the teammates who will be left to take on our work after we leave. It’s almost a race to get out first so we dont have to deal with the departure mess that we’re all too familiar with.

For anyone who’s contemplating leaving…..the job market is hot right now so a great time to negotiate salary, stock AND signing bonus.

I received a bonus and a 2.3% raise. Although, I felt I deserved more but what am I supposed to do. I think some received one or the other. My goal is to look for another position in or outside the company. It's time for a change.....
