Even when I work the bare minimum, I still know that I do my job better than those in higher positions. If I worked as well as they do, I know I would be automatically fired. Is that not so?
In the end, my coworkers did not leave this company, but the bosses.

Things to consider, does your state have exempt and non exempt employees? If they do salaried employees are often times not allowed to do the same work as hourly employees. They are on call 24-7. I had a manager I worked with that had a scheduled vacation. That person had left the state. The company got a call from the alarm company. Someone would be required to stay in the building overnight for the next 3 days. Corporate boss called. You need to return from your vacation and handle this. Person didn’t want to. Was told it’s in the job contract. It was. Person drove back to the building to remain over night. There isn’t additional pay for salaries exempt workers it’s part of the job.
Companies started abusing the exempt no overtime part so many states not all have rules that salaries employees in supervisor roles cannot do more than 20% of their job doing the same work as hourly employees.
Another example my cousin worked for a non union trucking company they worked him 12 hr days. He had truck fail an inspection so he had to wait at the stop for a mechanic to fix it then was required to do the entire days route he ended up working 20 hrs. But he was exempt. So his pay broke down to $11 an hour. If he was hourly he would have had 12 hrs of overtime. At close to $40 an hour.
Your SM sounds like ours..utterly useless but boy oh boy him and his ASMs can sure suck a mean one.
We don't have to know your job, chief. We just have to keep you doing your job. That's the gig, see?
Store manager in my store doesn't know how to use Genesis or My Red Vest. Doesn't have any power equipment licenses. Just walks around collecting a big paycheck. Useless.
