Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Now IBM's CHRO is involved

https://newsroom.ibm.com/IBM-Chief-Human-Resources-Officer-Addresses-False-Claims-of-Systemic-Age-Discrimination

"I’d like to take a moment to address this very serious claim, and I’ll start with the most important thing you need to know: discrimination of any kind is entirely against our culture and who we are at IBM, and there was (and is) no systemic age discrimination at our company."

Instead of getting rid of older workers IBM should get rid of its senile management. 70 plus and you continue to earn millions. May you all die of cancer and rot in he-l

It's not just relo that did it, although I suppose they thought that was clever at the time.

"Skills remix" has been the go to mantra for "get rid of the olds" for a long time. Everyone knows what that means; it's an open secret -- if a secret at all. IBM does not pay for any professional memberships or external training for people. If you want it, you pay. Worse, much of the best training* is super expensive as other corporations DO pay for it and have deeper wallets than someone trying to support his family on a paycheck that hasn't seen a bonus or a raise in years. Of course non-IBMers have better skills then. Some other company cared enough to train them.

*The crud they have for free "training" on their "Your Learning" website is not worth the click it takes to open it.

I like the part where they admit to using relocations as constructive dismissals, but “at least it’s not age discrimination.”

IBM Execs have no accountability and they constantly keep breaking IBM business conduct guidelines. How is this behavior rewarded ? They get promoted. No worries whatsoever.

The comments on IBM’s w3 are 100x critical of IBM’s shortcomings when compared what is posted here. Kudos to those who have the ba--s to post on w3.

Ask him why IBM keeps settling the individual claims as long as the terms stay confidential. IBM had hoped this info would never see the light of day. Now it has, and it’s going to hurt trying to put that genie back in the bottle. Ginni made the bet that the lawyers could keep it covered up. My guess is you are looking at a multiple billion dollar impairment charge to put this to bed
