Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Watch as nothing comes out of this

The latest age discrimination debacle is all over the news (including mainstream media) and I can guarantee you that it will take less than a couple of weeks for things to die down and nobody mentions it anymore. IBM engages in blatant age discrimination because it knows it can get away with it. A few days of public scrutiny is a small price to pay compared to the money they save by getting rid of the "dinobabies."

This is an old thread, but contrary to what people here have commented, IBM settled all the age discrimination cases in July, 2022 and the Kinney case right before trial in January 2023. More to come. Even though the damning contents of the emails came out, IBM does NOT want the emails themselves out. They won't let a single case go to trial as they are part of the discovery. Kudos to all the litigants and much bad karma to Ginni Rometty, Diane Gherson & Nickel LaMoreau the vacuous HR VP who denied IBM discriminates.

There are 13,000 cases abput to be filed on age discrimination. When the EEOC, a govt body, dies their own investigation, as they did in 2018 w/the help of ProPublica & IBM employees filing complaints, there is no way out for IBM. They found them guilty of systemic age discrimination which opened the door to lawsuits via arbitration. The executives in the "old heads," "grew hairs," comments were named in the lawsuits: CEO Ginni Rometty, VP of HR, Diane Gershon (now teaching at Harvard!) & CFO James Kavanaugh. They are the trio of stooges who allegedly made the "dinobabies" & other despicable remarks revealed in the Lohnn v IBM case. Rometty is on several boards (wonder if they're following all these cases? Hello JP Morgan). She got paid 137million for her first seven yrs at IBM w/o all her perks like stocks & homes. She is shameless & I hope she is held accountable for how she destroyed people's lives & families. Google all the lawsuits & how these people were cast out (Kinney vs IBM has a suit involving 16 litigants in Texas & names names). It's stomach turning what she did. How ironic they were in their 50s & now late 60s when the marching orders came fown & theyre all still working. The MA lawsuit involving several litigants was highlighted in the Boston Globe. One employee was laid off at 63 & has a 13 yo child. He's working at Trader Joe's at night. Its heartbreaking while Rometty still pulls in millions. IBM needs to pay for their sins.

Capitalism and big corporations in America.. if you think for one second IBM is afraid of this they're not. And neither is Cisco, Oracle, HP, HPE, Dell... Companies we win. Don't like it, go to EU.

They do exactly what the law allows and not an inch more.
As for the dinobabies comment... I would not want to be that inDUHvidual, but that's all it is... a ridiculous remark made by an individual showing very poor judgement.
So yeah, something will come of it. That person may not continue to have a job. But that's about it.

I doubt it will die down because there is allegedly at least one VERY damning lawsuit to come amongst the 1000s filed.
