It’s a special project on the front of the wire but only current vcams can apply

Yea I’m not seeing this at all. VCM for many many years. Maybe they’re only making it visible to certain folks. Is there a way to search for it?

The post also says it’s for current VCAMS

😂😂😂 what a complete and utter joke. 😂😂😂. An optical products rep told me that less than 50% of VCs have ANY doctor coverage. And more than 50% of those have less than two days of coverage.

Lmao. Increase sales by 50%. 😂😂😂

The posting is on the FRONT PAGE of WALMART ONE. Right side. Says something like "Special Project Opportunities in H&W"

There is a posting on the front page of ONE WALMART for a test program for 3 Regional VCAMS. Extensive travel required. Their role is to teach, train and model CARE, in the Stores, drive operational excellence with a goal of a 50% increase in sales. This is according to the job description listed for the pilot. It does not specify what regions, compensation, salary or hourly etc... Interesting approach, but they are nuts if they think the CARE MODEL is going to improve sales by 50%. How about getting the Vision Centers staffed with O.Ds? Optician Staffing? Compensation is completely out of line right now compared to other positions in the store and the industry as a whole. Third--- technology . How do we compete with online Opticals?

So how long before this takes place

All I will say is it is specific to VC only and is lead by someone who knows VC.
Nothing else more I will say except it’s a win and what most of you wanted.
No need to speculate. No need to post it on the vcm private group to try to guess.

So what is the NEW VCM position that is being piloted? Please tell us it does not include d40 OTC responsibilities

You’re safe. We are adding a new VC role that’s in pilot. If we were going to eliminate VC, we wouldn’t be doing this. You’re still getting hw insights info. If you don’t like you’re job as a vcm with WM, maybe it’s time to give someone else an opportunity and let them make a difference.
We wish you the best in the new year. Don’t forget your sun promo

Doug McMillon, CEO of Walmart, said, "Building a seamless omnichannel experience for customers and prioritizing convenience for them is critical. Our stores have become hybrid, they are both stores and fulfillment centers." The future of Walmart is to broaden its product and service offerings including retail, financial services and health/wellness.

McMillon discussed Walmart's focus of serving families more broadly with a mix of products and services that are complementary. These include the recently announced fintech start-up, ONE, expansion of delivery services, growing e-commerce marketplaces, expanding the health and wellness business and growing its advertising revenue. “

Pharmacy is still in trouble. They are going to be cutting operating hours back again soon.

Yes! That is the damn truth. It’s clear as day that optical is literally gum on their shoe…..and not even good gum. It’s fruit stripe gum after being chewed for 30 minutes and left to sit in the sun and rain for a week in El Salvadorian rain forest jungles, downhill from an alpaca farm.

MM don’t GAF about anybody in optical. Optical is a pain in their ru-p.

It would be better for ALL involved if NVI took over.

Fingers crossed.

The optical dept is for anyone that wants to stay stagnant in role and not move up in the company. Your MM, Regionals etc don’t value you and if you think they do then you’re blind. You’re Mm and regional are getting 100k + bonuses and salaries in the 160k+, they know nothing about optical but can come in and tell you that you need to sell more second pairs. Walmart(the vp of pharmacy at the time, most likely to save his job for a few years) ruined optical when they merged pharm and optical to save pharmacy.

Total FY budget was sent out by H&W Ops last year on 4/7/21…. They did sent out Q1 prior to that in 1/28/21, but ultimately was revised in the total year plan. If you honestly are putting you job in terms of when you receive you budget… The Optical division isn’t for you. I have been in role over 10 years let say… D30 is typically the last to get the info sent to them.

The budget for FE 23 is the same as Division 01 and Pharmacy. No one has a plan yet. Like usual, it will probably be the middle of Q1 before we get one.

NO changes are coming. Vision Center 2.0 will continue to roll out. The paranoid VC manager who keeps posting the same cr-p on here needs to relax. All this stuff like "the signs are there" " can't find a P&L"----- the damn P&L is on the WIRE in 2 spots. Stop stirring the pot!

It seems like this is a place for people to stir the pot. If you know something, quote your source… I haven’t seen the first thing that points to VCMs being removed. And the fact that someone says the VC makes no difference in the bottom line is absolutely clueless.

Walmart loves to keep their associates in the dark. Top secret till they want you to squirm. Vision center are irrelevant to walmart I'll be shocked if they dont close them all or lease all spaces out to other optical vendors. Let all of us opticians in on the grand scheme of things so we can run to the competition.

They’re ***tcanning the VCM’s. Will they run chaotically without VCM’s? Absolutely, but they could close every single VC across the nation, tomorrow, and it would only have a net positive effect on the bottom line. VC is inconsequential to WM, and it shows.

And this is another problem with this company, “big changes coming” why not mention the ideas and the pilots going on? You create more buy-in and excitement when you engage your employees with information earlier on instead of hiding things.

Yea. Same. Plus there’s ALOT of clues throughout the operational changes in the company that point to that. Where have you been hearing it? VC peers? Div1 mgmt? MHWD? Or just online?
