Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

Does anyone believe the culture can change?

Seems that any trust in Emerson is long gone. How do you turn that around or maybe you just hire new people while the ones who know how bad the culture is leave?

Has it started?
Have we changed anything?
Change will cause discomfort, and our leadership is too weak to withstand unfavorable reviews.
This company is the next A-B

But what real change has happened in 1 year?

Actually they have let go many leaders - vp’s and above, so I think LK is trying to make changes. I don’t think he is going about it the right way. Having RK as #2 is the elephant in the room.

@“only for the worst “
People who don’t look or act like us are not the problem. Id--ts are the problem.
Emerson seems to hire Indians and Costa Ricans the same way it hires Americans… by connections!
My new employer is diverse and it works well. It’s bigger and more profitable than Emerson.
Emerson will prosper with high oil prices, but have your resume ready when they fall. You can always apply at Hunter Engineering or Barry Wehmiller. They may be the last holdouts of jimmy crow.

I don’t think you can change it. I keep coming back to the leadership. The current leadership was apart of things when the culture changed for the worse. Why would I or anyone else believe that they want to change things? The great leaders left and LK let them. Is anyone he hires to fix the culture really going to tell him that to do that he has to understand his role in it? I think not.

Stop innovation only by M&A. train long-timers to respect and engage current generations. pay equity based on experience and tenure (not just on market timing). disavow rampant racism, sexism and ageism. Redo HR to focus on building culture.

Weed out people like the previous poster. He’s at end of his career and needs to leave. People like him are holding Emerson back now.

Only for the worst, unfortunately.
In this day and age, the only substantial culture changes are either of the 'woke' variety, or the shift to 100% "diversity" aka "everyone is from Bangalore or thereabouts" so we're a diverse company now. Once that path starts there is only one outcome.
