Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

The planning horizon is July 14

Here is what I understood from GLOBALCAST and other town halls: top management doesn't care about anything at all anymore. They are oblivious to our pain and are simply waiting for a stock vesting date to cash out and retire. Us workers will be left with the mess. Help is not coming. The cavalry is not coming. Plan accordingly.

Most of the leaders at GF are the ex-IBM’ers which had a bad toxic culture overall. Even though TC tries his level best to show sort of empathy overall he has arrogance and a massive ego hear in any of his interviews, town halls, global cast where he is trying hard to be as polite as possible and not losing his Sh-t. He can never accept the fact that he can be wrong and immediately e one’s aggressive. With this kind of toxic culture from the top it trickles all the way down.

I use to think this way. With experience, I have noticed 2 types of executives and above. Ones in it for power, and ones in it for money.

If it was money, their focus would be to get more wafers out with less capex/opex. They would treat you well, as you are the key to more revenue.

However, how many times do you go to a meeting feeling belittled? Like your a pile of #2. Your a degreed engineer or an experienced tech, you have accomplished a lot, but in that moment, you feel like garbage. This is done by leaders so they can feel powerful at a cost of you feeling powerless.

Don’t mistake leaders who are motivated by power vs money, they are not the same.

This cashing out will leave us with more leaders who are power hungry and a more toxic work environment.
