Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Day off is a day off!

This is really not ok anymore! How many times have you been called and asked to come in on your day off?

Really up to how compassionate and understanding your store manager is. Lucky enough my store manager is understanding enough. Managers are salary so if we cut our vacation short, we lose it and if we work we won’t get extra. We are not required to work at home but because we are salary there is no off the clock. If something need to get done, it need to get done even if it means working 14 hours day and 14 days straight. If you bring it up, they will push back as bad time management on our part. It is a no win situation. It ultimately come down to if you can’t do the job then leave and unfortunately there are some of us who can’t leave and mostly because the skills we acquire at Macy’s as management not translate to other companies.

I have an opportunity to leave Macy’s However I’ve never been in an environment where I had to pay for my other bennys, like 401k and medical, dental, etc… MANY people do it or figured out how to deal with it. (I sooo understand NOW how faithful employees are just considered a doormat)

Um, no. You were on vacation and you drove 100 miles to go to work just to close the building?. Nope. You are a doormat. You don't do this. Store manager is paid to step up and do what's needed when something happens like this. Next time you will be at a relatives funeral and the phone will ring with the same issue, because you have no backbone .You have given over control of your life to a S-hi-t show.

This scenario also happened to Sales Managers......while on vacation, 100 miles from home, the Store Manager calls me to tell me the closing manager called out ( which happened a lot with this manager) and would it be possible for me to close the store ? I reminded her, my boss, I was 100 miles from home. She didn't care.....she told me nobody else would come in.....and she was not available to work late and close the store. When you are part of the management team, you DO answer the phone from your boss. And yes, I drove 100 miles to come home and cut my vacation short. I think I was being tested.

Simple. Screen your calls and don't answer Macy's.

If you work while on pto you will only get one half pto pay. The other half will be given back to you.

it seemed that when they started msp they stopped some of the manager abuse, but now they are back to the same old cr-p

@1avu I'd be inclined to agree in most cases... however, there are some managers who ask the question in that 'I'm not really asking, I'm saying you need to get in here' sort of way.

You can just say no and go about your day instead of stressing yourself out over someone asking a yes or no question.

If you answer your phone while on PTO... that's kinda on you.
