"My Sr. Manager was not happy."

Having worked here for far too long and know the culture and most characters, was the Manager angry at the fact that our work policy is ridiculous & outdated and cost the team someone of value, or was he/she just entitled and believed the guy would sign on just... because? I honestly can't tell ha. Wonder if his name was tar and feathered due to looking out for his own interests.

Pembina best pray all the summer students who we hired over the years due to nepotism are ready to step in and do their part. Our company is going to be completely fu---d with staffing. 5 year outlook does not look right. Retirements, resignations, online reputational damage, the expectation of staff to fit in an 80s cultural mold. I am set to retire in March so I will not have to deal with this but was said somewhere here, Pembina is a Titanic. It is sinking fast. Good on the young kid for walking after interviewing with Pembina. Greener pastures for sure.

I miss the routine of coming downtown and look forward to getting back into the swing of things asap. However back in November my team interviewed people for a position and had a top tier candidate that would have been an amazing hire and longterm asset to the company. He asked about a hybrid work structure during the interview and before he could finish HR told him that Pembina has no intention of instituting a hybrid work model. He declined our generous offer and began work with one of our competitors who has a hybrid model. My Sr. Manager was not happy. Like it or not, hybrid/wfh is the future.

There was a poster here last year whose objection of WFH was a "what if they decide to go mow the lawn in the middle of the day?" If you're worried about that, you have hired the wrong people, have trust issues, and/or are a terrible leader. 100s of people at Pembina desperately need to retire already.

Ya, no. Three guys on my team clip their nails before lunch and blow the remnants all over the floor. I literally hate most of the people I work with. Keep the WFH or a hybrid.
