Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Why do you want to be laid off?

in several threads folks are saying they can't wait to be laid off. Why? Are you just joking, trolling or do you really have an issue with Chevron? I'm curious to hear what it is if it's the latter. It can't be the pay, since it's among the best in the industry. The benefits are good as well. What else can cause you to pray to be laid off?

@kzi, I agree 100%, you need to realize the nature of the people who are posting continuously on a layoff's board about their own gripes or rumors when there are no layoffs happening currently at Chevron. Why would anyone be posting here at all unless they are disgruntled employees or trolls. Some of these trolls that I just called out who have no online life (normal chat-room, forum, there are thousands) or real life will reply, or pretend to ignore this post and post another irrelevant post, but you are fooling no one.

A question posed by an individual who either hasn’t been in the workforce very long or is ignorant about the opportunities presented by severance packages.

Leadership explicitly states that our pay is pegged to the 50% mark in benchmarking against our competitors. I wouldn’t call that “among the best”. And it’s abysmal compared to the tech jobs that are taking our people.

because it is 2+ years after transformation and things are getting more chaotic (not helped by the musical chairs played in almost all BU LT), workload had been piling up with salary not rising proportionally. i'll gladly take a package if offered.

Its because it makes MW so giddy to lay people off. Hes like children waking up on Christmas morning to open presents when he lays someone off!

The people who post that are losers and can't make it in life on their own, so they want a pay-off is the answer for most who post here. Consider the source and the site.

They all want that "big package". The only trouble is, that "big package" is only beneficial if you're retiring (or the industry is hiring, which it isn't). If you're less than 50, that "big package" is only going to last you a couple years.
