Unpaid overtime

I love my job, but I work too much overtime. Perhaps I could refuse but I think it could put me on the layoff list when it comes to cuts. Out of pure curiosity, how many hours overtime do you work pro bono?

In 273 it’s expected for salaried to work free overtime during the week to stay off layoff list which in my opinion allows more layoffs

@7luq+1fT5swSv, you get noticed and promoted by working hard. Short-term request for OT are meaningless for salaried employees in the context of overall career growth. I started at the bottom and pulled $ 300K/year many times in my career.

Zero. It is illegal. It is also unwise.....if you are off the clock, and get injured, you are in for a bad day. You will probably be let go for it, while your manager denies it all and stays employed.

If you are salaried exempt you should be prepared to work on average more than 8 hours a day with no additional pay,

Why would anyone working for GE be willing to work for nothing? Culp is paid over 1300 times the median pay of workers, #3 on the over paid CEO’s list, and he’s doing a sh!tty Job. You must be crazy busting your a$$ for something the manager is going to take credit for.

Something is wrong if you can't get your job done in 8 hrs. I typically worked 10 hr days but the 2 extra hours were for me to learn more and advance my skill set. Performance is what matters. So if you are working OT and not growing you are wasting your time and need to get a new job.
