Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

The truth

I’ve been with T-MOBILE for about 7 years and recently my position was eliminated with severance. Never did I imagine I’d be in this situation but the truth is I know it is 100% for the best.

I have worked at other companies and with that experience it’s easy to see the writing on the wall for where the company is headed. First, for all those that believe the “if you’re in a retail store you’re safe” propaganda just wait until 2023/2024. Phase 1 was the vaccine mandate that I’m still not sure how they got away with, but phase 2 will come when the requirements of the merger have been met during the start of 2023. There is NO CHANCE that the company will allow “extra” store managers. DMs with smaller sized districts will have districts combined to be minimum 10+ like EVERY other company out there. The new CDM role was a way to not have as many layoffs with the RDMs and to get some of that “extra” RSM headcount out the store so that when the position gets eliminated Feb 2023 it won’t look as bad for all the retail-Twitter heads out there. Finally, EVERY anew position created over the last 4 years has always been eliminated so for those that are trying something new, get ready. Finally, to allow the culture to become dominated by Sprint leadership, values, and ways of doing things will ultimately lead to worse. The company isn’t EVER going away, that’s not even possible, and will be around and continue to grow. But for those OG T-Mobile peeps that have had the carrot dangled with promises of promotions, that ain’t happening. Just way and see what else gets announced next February, everyone will really see what the company is about.

Once you start looking in Telecom or IT, you will quickly realize that T-Mobile doesn't pay what other companies are paying. I just left T-Mobile and received a 30K bump in base pay.

There was a window about 7 months ago to secure a nice remote, c-suite job. But that sh-t is closed. No more remote. Hiring freeze everywhere but frontline. If you thought you were ever getting out of retail, you’re not.

They are like every other carrier at this point. Nothing differentiates them. Best thing that can happen is you get a severance and try something new. They hey day was when Legere was there and did something different to make you want to feel like you are a part of something even though his plan was to make millions. He let you be you as long as you followed the plan. Now you are a part of something. A pool of zombies 🧟 that dread what they do. Unmotivated employees are like termites. Slowly eating away at the foundation until it crumbles or there is a remedy to fix it and make it stronger. Not happening under current management. They look at the stock instead of the business. Look at the business, make it better, make the people feel motivated and not threatened to be laid off daily, it,s been stagnant for while. Oh yeah, note to management, stop trying to think employees are naive. Stop lying,

That's why OG T-Mobile folks are leaving for Google, Amazon, Facebook and other tech companies in and out of Seattle. The Bellevue office used to be a great place to work. Now it just sux. And yes, the Legacy Sprint folks have taken over a great deal of the company. No wonder Legere left immediately...
