Gender Bias in new pay system

Long story short... I am the only woman on the team. My raise (with two EE's) was under the 3%. My manager straight up admitted that that there is a pool and he had to distribute the funds to other high performers. Knowing what we know about the new system.... have we just introduced gender bias by male managers to pay incentives to male employees? I wouldn't even know who to talk to about this.

Look at it this way missy. You have a good paying Chevron job. That in itself should be a blessing to acknowledge. Lots of others were forcefully let go recently and since then the country has gone through an economic shutdown caused by a pandemic. I’m sure you took advantage of 2 years of pay sitting at home and not going too much to earn your keep. Now that things are just returning to normal, you still have a job, getting paid well twice a month with benefits to boot. All this and you’re going to complain about a 3% bump in pay? If I only knew who you are, I’d have you fired.

With all due respect. As a female I get frustrated with other females assuming that they are pushed down or overlooked due to gender. You stated you had 2 EEs and your supervisor had people with 3 and 4 EEs that they had to award to also. Don’t you think if they gave you a better raise than them that would have been discrimination against them because they weren’t female? Is there a chance some of them where females? This kind of thought process is what is causing so much change in the rules currently. People are complaining about discrimination of all sorts race, age, gender, friends etc. When I’ve been unhappy with my raise I’ve spoke with my supervisors about what to do next year and made changes. I made changes the following year and got a better raise. Stop focusing on the things you can’t change and focus on what you can change. Also understand being female shouldn’t give us a handicap or more opportunity just because of our gender. That’s just as discriminatory to others.

You don’t really understand the “religion” of D&I! Just being a woman alone now actually is lower on the “points” scale. Grow a beard and change your personal pronouns and that will get you that raise. Oh boy.

You realize not all woman can be the new chosen ones. Some will get way better treatment then others. Trust me your getting better raises and opportunities then any male even if the male is a HiPo. The thing is you have to act on the opportunities or you will be back in the working class like the other 98% of the chevronoids

An average woman will get above average ratings. A laggardly lady will get average.

Only a fool would believe there currently is a hiring / promotion bias against women in Chevron. We just went through a downsizing event that had a clear objective to increase female representation especially in leadership positions. A female candidate was considered for dozens of job slates where a male candidate would be limited to 4. Gender bias against women? What a joke!

I’m a while man. My direct report, a black woman, is the same PSG as me and makes more than me. So you can stfu about inequality.

Leadership is pretty blunt that base pay is based on market benchmarks not on performance. Did your bonus reflect your performance? Your pay raise won’t.

I had 4 EEs and got a 4.6% raise…you weren’t discriminated against. There are so many factors at play: performance, your % CO, pool of available funds for team.

2 EE’s is about average these days since there are no quotas like with the old system. And average was 3% or less. So I don’t see the problem here.

by the same token....is there women bias to give better raises to women employees? What are you talking about? you sound like one of those that always blame others for your condition. You may be very high on your CO.
Also, what do you mean by your manager "straight up admitted that there is a pool"?? this is not something your manager created to sc--w you, it is a corporate wide change and is public information....

I know many with two EE’s that received less than 3%. It depends on your performance compared to others along with where you are in your CO. I’m sure being a woman has zero percent contribution.

If the males performance was higher than yours, what is the issue? The bias is on performance not gender.

There’s no one to talk to, unless you personally hire a labor practices lawyer. HR and ombudsman will do you no good, they’re there to defend the company. That said, your claim sounds more perception than fact-based. You will have trouble proving discrimination.
