We've had layoffs every 2 or 3 years or so since I can remember, at least since the Gulf merger. That's O&G and that's all the majors. They generally hold on to the quality people but you need to prove your worth by action, not talk. Go somewhere else and prove me wrong. Are all the people on this site new-hires?

The new BU VP, ML, sure is endearing herself to the workforce. I get the permit issue in CA, but she sure does have all the answers that are being directed at us vs using the talent that has been here for decades to shape the path forward. Lots of doing too us vs doing with us. Another MW accelerated D&I leader who has moved way too fast and hasn’t had proper time to learn from the decisions made over time……thanks uncle Mike for the growing facade of “leaders” you are promoting through your ELT directives to further your agenda. The workforce is on the other side of you decisions…..

Any idea how many would EOI if its made available? That would surely reduce the amount of folks to be left standing. I know of at least four that said they would. Bet it would be more. I heard they will decide within a few weeks or at least announce it. Betting they have already decided.

SJV will continue to cut as the assets wind down, you could see this coming many years ago. The business unit has always been way over staffed with a declining production. If you plan to stay with Chevron, you are going to have to move out of CA.

But wait…..uncle Mikey said the last one would put us in a position to “win in any environment”. He would never lie to us would he?

Ah so sadly MW is already getting layoff withdrawals. Get him to re-hab fast!

Have you all looked at the MCBU jobs. Maybe swap to that BU.

If you’re in SJV and complaining about further layoffs, you must not be aware of what’s going on or aren’t being informed properly by your manager. The CA regulatory environment has tanked over the last 3 years. You can’t even get well permits any more. We would be in far worse shape had we stayed at the ridiculously high headcount we had circa 2015. You do realize we had about as many employees then as MCBU does now?

I heard from a reliable source the D&C team isn’t going to be impacted. This was an project to trim ops and maintenance.

ESP, SJV Project Transformation, Functional Transformation, now this. SJV can’t catch a break. The really sad part is that after each of these, they don’t let you post out for two years. Too bad there’s a layoff every two years. Wasn’t “Project Transformation” supposed to right-size headcount for 2025? I would love to see some accountability for AW and his henchman, CP. Oh wait, they’ve been promoted away for their amazing success. Now they’re posting on LinkedIn about CNE every day trying to get into the C-suite.

VP stated 10% of salaried positions. O&M will actually need to gain positions until the end. Good luck. If you are young and want to stay with the company, post out as soon as you can!

They have suggested to certain “most valuable resources” (people), that should try their hand at the PDC. Others see the writing on the wall and are being proactive by posting out. Those who are unsuccessful will more than likely be axed. Only so many allowed on the dance floor! Good luck! They are trying to “extend” the runway and have compared it to an aging person. Eventually you get taken “to the house” a place for mom or whatever term you would like to use!

You could rename this thread "SJVBU to slowly disappear".

Overheard a management conversation. HSE and FE likely reduced by up to 50%. There simply isn’t enough work to maintain the current headcount. Post out if you can.

You're first on the chopping block, OP. That's how you know.
Buh-bye.
