Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

I'm no longer scared of layoffs

The job market is good. If I'm laid off, that in combination with severance should make the whole experience not as bad as it usually would. Plus, I'm getting tired of having to deal with a bully of a manager so getting cut might end up being a good thing for me in the end. Bring it on, I say.

Same here!

Sad, isn't it?

Don't be afraid. Had nearly 20 years with Ascension and most with the pre Ascension hospital system, laid off without a second thought. (But it was really hard for them they say)

HOWEVER found a better job with no on call, a healthy culture (that I am still learning to trust), leadership that does actual live anonymous feedback and talks about it (how gutsy is that?) And a huge raise as well!

And I'm not even midpoint for my new position while there was no movement possible with Ascension.

God wanted me to move on, so when I didn't in time, he pushed me out the door into something much better for me and my family.

(I dont consider Ascension to be a Catholic institution anymore, its time the drop the act and admit its about money, not so much helping the poor)

This phrase never rings more true than at Ascension, It's Not What You Know. It's Who You Know.
