Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Career growth

It's devastating that I'm still in the same role I was in when I first started working here. I tried to make some career progress in a variety of ways. I worked hard, I did my best, all in vain. Has anyone here managed to make a significant career progress?

Vote with your feet- know your worth and empower yourself to drive your own career. I did after 12 years and my only regret is I did not do it MUCH sooner. Spent a lot of those years telling myself common decency and a sense of equal opportunity and ethics (not the garbage being propagandized on the surface) would eventually reign but it only got progressively worse. I am ecstatic to be free from the that toxic culture and more importantly I’ve arrived at a place of well being that I forgot existed. It became impossible to muster even basic respect for any of the Leadership. I do have to laugh because the experience of working there is the exact opposite of what they post on LinkedIn. “One of the best companies to work for” my foot. I hope Karma pays all of the complicit with a crushing awakening.

Witnessed people getting internally promoted aka career progression. Some of them met the criteria and were warranted. Others, not so much, that make you give a side glance. It's sad and unfair that they won't let you move on because you are so good at your job. And now your job is going to GBS. :(:(:(

@17 years....sounds like your department & management are holding you back from opportunities for their own selfish needs. So truly sorry to hear it.

@30 years...not sure what pipe you have been smoking, but I want some too.

17 years for me and I am in the same position. I applied to an internal job in my building and I was told that they wouldn't allow me to move to this admon position because they didn't want any issues with payroll. If they had let me change positions I would have been there to train the new person. Well 6 years later my payroll job is going to GBS, now I am waiting for a buyout

I think PepsiCo is a great company! No it’s not perfect but what corporation is. I’ve made a career for over 30 years. I’ve worked hard and advanced early on but not so much recently. I’m always in the camp of if you don’t like it then leave it. Why stay if you are going to complain. If you can do better somewhere else then do it! It’s been good for me.
