Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Hiring for wrong areas

I know for a fact that Sabre is currently hiring so I can't understand why our team is still heavily understaffed. We're desperate for help and we've made this abundantly clear. We have communicated to our manager several times that if we don't get help the work will not be done on time, if at all. Why we're not getting any while there is hiring going on (it would be a different thing if there was a hiring freeze) is beyond me.

Senior leader here. Most managers cannot simply hire more staff whenever they feel like it. Going and asking for a mid-cycle budget increase is highly frowned upon and you can't add staff without that; most leaders feel like it will reflect poorly on them to do so. If you can get a few people to tactfully threaten to walk then you will have a better time getting what you want. A lot of people feel overworked, to the point that HR actually provides training on how to respond to that complaint.

Have to follow the orders from above without questioning. No "Sabre values" at play here.
