Any idea as to what groups will be targeted? I might as well get laid off, it probably is a better feeling than fearing about an impending swing of the blade. Can anyone tell me what would be the severance for a 4+ year veteran at NetApp would be? - Making sure that I can survive until I get my next job.

Now I know why most of the talent that joins NetApp is transient in nature.

Getting a layoff from any company is never any fun; I know because I got the layoff from NetApp in August 2020. First there was anger, then their was fear, then there was a sense of foreboding, then I found another job. Life goes on.

From that perspective, working for NetApp for 16 years was actually fairly good in the rear view mirror. I moved around the company in different positions, pay and benefits were good, for half that time NetApp always placed in GPTW. The other side is that it depends on you and your manager. I can say I learned some new skills, had fun, but toward the end there was a management change and COVID and a bunch of stuff that basically cut off communication with my manager. The end result was layoff.

Yeah, I got a package and that helped, but not as much as the skills I learned. It was scary for a while, but I'm very happy where I am at now. I don't hold any grudges against NetApp.

As advice, I'd say quit relying on management and your senior leadership. They worry about quarter to quarter numbers way too much sometimes, and that doesn't work out so well for a lot of very talented folks. Just worry about yourself. Collect the good pay and benefits and do everything you can to improve your skills and experiences. Sock a bit a away just in case you do get a layoff and you don't get a good package. You need to be the one in control of your life. There is life after NetApp; been there, done that.

I think to wait for a week or so, we will know. Only question is how massive it is going to be
