Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Point of no return to the good old days

Until recently, I really had hoped that the situation in this company would slowly improve after all this chaos with the pandemic begins to settle. However, now I see that things can only progressively deteriorate even more, so I am getting a bit nostalgic.
There is no more hope that this company will return to the good old days, right?
I envy those who are close to retirement.

@new tech, I think the word is incompetence.

New tech isn't necessarily bad, rather the way that MetLife butchers new tech that is bad.

Be careful what you wish for. New tech is just as bad. Just look at the rollout of the new claims system in 2021.

@mess amen. The systems I have to work with are laughably bad. I'm having to relearn software that hasn't been the industry standard in 20 years because nobody wants to fund current tech. I feel like I'm in a time machine.

Yeah, your good old days are now everyone else’s mess! Every department, every piece of technology is 30 years out of date. Scrambling to try and get modern systems in place. There are so many broken pieces it’s pathetic. Remediation is a full time job. Frankly it is disgraceful. All those who did not allow funding of new systems are long gone, collecting their pensions and probably were awarded $100 of thousands of dollars in bonuses over their tenure. The company is broken in every way.
