Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

What kind of companies have you worked for before?

Having been at Allstate for a while, I can see now that I would've been better off staying at the former company from which I came thinking it would be a big step forward. That company was really awful, but it turned out that this one isn't much better either. However, what has shocked me lately is that I know quite a few people coming from better companies to Allstate? These must be some specific cases, but it is certainly unusual for me to hear that someone here came from Progressive.

Insurance companies are all the same, you want to see a change go outside insurance.

I have friends that worked at Allstate, left for State Farm, GEICO, Farmers, and Progressive. The ones that went to GEICO said the pay was better but the working conditions and managers were worse, only 1 is still there. The others were mixed and State Farm is like Allstate in many ways, the 2 that went to progressive said they never declined or delayed so many claims when they were at Allstate.

Worked claims for Geico and Progressive and never had to worry about layoffs and always got a year end bonus unlike here . Workload was manageable over there too and we were valued.

I've worked at 4 or 5 different companies in the last 13 years and Allstate is middle of the pack. Vacation policy is decent, has some interesting benefits, but the health insurance is garbage. I work in tech, so the job is not difficult, just lots of red tape and bureaucracy that you have to deal with.

A lot of the complaining here comes from either overworked departments like claims or from lifers who wish things were like the old days.

Allstate is by no means a great place to work, but there are worse places out there.
