If somebody is laid off right before the end of the year and loses out on their significant bonus, is there any legal recourse for them? I just read posts where this happened to people and I can't believe Xerox got away with it. Shouldn't they be eligible for at least a major part of that bonus?

Nothing can be done. Happened in the 2018 wave. It was a blood bath and it was terrible. I left in jan one year and because I left on my own before April I was not entitled to my bonus for the prior year. It was really a slap in the face but par for the course at xerox.
Bonuses? Who gets bonuses?
No thanks I have other plans.
Nope. Just bend over and take it !
Xerox at their best ..Screwing over their employees!
Unethical by far. Without a doubt he most incompetent and corrupt company that I have worked for. They will suck the life out of you, and still demand more. No way Jose. ⛔️
Nothing can be done, and that's why they do it. There were many in this situation in the 2nd large IRIF wave in December 2018.
Officially you have to be employed on the last day of the year to receive some things like year-end bonus or 401k matching. So they let you go a week or two before then, cheating you out of what should be yours.
Where did you read these supposed “posts”?
Agree with prev posts, they are veteran thieves that know their way in and around the law.
Unfortunately you are working for the most unethical, and probably immoral group of executives (??) on the planet. They would sc--w over you, your mother and their own mothers if it meant another nickel in theirs and Icahn's pockets!!! I got out three years ago after 20 years and got them before they got me!!!
No.
There is a significant bonus?
Same thing would happen with the 401k match, well, if there were a match. Get let go on 12/31 and you would also lose that if it still existed.
I can't imagine there is anything that could be done.
