Just wondering...does Belk still use it's own employees to conduct inventory? This was one of the many mo--nic policies that contributed to walking out 3 years ago.

@3cjq Thanks for telling the truth about life behind Belk closed door. May be we have more compassion and respect treatment from San Quentin or Attica prison than our pathetic Belk D-block prison facility!

Used to get a beyond generous 25 minute "lunch" break for a cold sausage biscuit or a granola bar-- the sign on the bowl one year read, "One treat per person, PLEASE!"
My last inventory in Florence, SC consisted of 2, 14-hour days with NO break (go to the "turlet" as Archie Bunker calls it? You get followed and timed by Loss Prevention), and Beetlejuice handed out plain biscuits and a mini-bottle of water to be consumed while scanning and counting. Literally, bread and water. Just like prison. Or a labor camp. Only thing missing was a rousing rendition of "Thar's a Jubilee Way Down Th' Ol' Campground"!
Meanwhile, managers got a catered, sit-down breakfast and, 5 hours later, a full a-la-carte, catered lunch delivered courtesy of Ruby Tuesday, as they sat dilligently and pensively wondering why associates were in such a bad mood!
There were also these borrowed scanners from another store with weak wrist straps that would fall off and the whole unit would hit the floor and shatter into a gajillion pieces! Re-purposed Tracfones, I believe. The scanning area and sensistivity was far superior to the 2004-era Falcon scanners with average battery life of 10 minutes and a dim screen. But, they sure did break.
For minimum wages and sweat shop inventory tedious work, we can count you out anytime at Belk after liquidation.
