Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Who is here waiting for severance pay?

I don't know if it's a smart decision, but I know that most of my colleagues are still here because they hope to be on the list soon and get paid to leave. On the other hand, I would gladly accept a lower-paid job just to leave as soon as possible, because finding new job is hardest when you don't have a job. Also, this company will try to do everything to get rid of people without giving them a package.

They HAVE left. So many have left in the last 12 months!. So many new hires (last 5-7 years) who do not have pension, realized there're no growth prospects and left. Dozens in Corporate and Research.

These are the best of the best, Rapid Recruiting hires who looked inside 3M and saw what it has become (vs the poster child of years ago mmm still uses to recruit). For others remaining and highly skilled and educated, it does take a bit of time to find a job at Amazons, Apples, Microsofts, Googles, Metas, etc of this world who still value quality technical skills.

the white collar worker has been stealing a living out of St Paul, imagine getting hours built up to take a rest day, for goodness sake, most of you get reduced healthcare benefits and A.I.P. bonus, generous concessions for working from home, try being a production worker with pathetic supervisors and managers who are driven by their own futures and don't care blue collar workers are trying to build a 30 year career with St Paul. The very same blue collar worker who would outshine their current supervisor who was promoted due to nepotism.

I am 1 for 1 on job searches outside of 3M, first time I have looked in 15 years. But the pay was 1/3 less than I am making now. I am going to continue to search and see what I can find. The job offer was not an equal level position in the new company.

I don't understand why people with your view are still here. If you have any relevant and in-demand skills at all you can find a job in 90 days or less in 2021. (And likely much sooner than that)
