Thread regarding Belk layoffs

5,000 seasonal employees

Since someone here has mentioned hiring more than 5,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to fill sales, beauty and operational positions, lets discuss it. Do you think Belk has really hired so many employees? I don't. I don't think even the majority of that "planned number" of workers has been employed.

Well those 5000 seasonal must have been hired at my store because we have nothing but young little newbies. Smh. We have a new store manager who’s been there only a year and in just that year alone, 30 “veterans” if you will, have walked out because of her. There are only about 10 of us left and EVERY. SINGLE. OTHER. employee is a young little newbie. It’s ridiculous and I can’t even stand it.

I’d believe that 5,000 people finished their onboarding paperwork… but only about half of them finished their first day

@2ntn Thank you for telling the truth as we all see it at Belk this holiday season. “A happy worker is a productive worker” is the old but true saying all the time. Belk can’t hire fast enough amount of people quitting because the toxic, unorganized planning and slavery style sweatshop culture they offer! Why would people happy and excited to work at “Shawshank Redemption Belk” once they were badly treated by top leaders?

Belk can't hire fast enough to cover the amount of people quitting. I have been in retail over 30 years and have never seen anything like this. All the employees quit for the same reason, doing a job that you were not hired to do, kind of like a bait & switch. Sad!

If Belk hired 5000 seasonal workers as they said then why angry customers waiting and looking for cash registers to buy and check out this holiday right now? Why should we spend more money to help hard workers at Belk right now? “Forget the mule just load the wagon” and pocket the profits!
