Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

the ultimate meme stock...

so what options are at the Chief Executioner's disposal now?

break up the company?
saddle on more debt and more share buybacks?
close even more stores? stop all the renovations?
spin off the digital business?
layoff 100s more and ask the remainder to take on the workload?

winter is coming and it's not going to be pretty.

The company is in the middle of its biggest selling season of the year, but its last operating update left investors worried about how it will perform. Traffic took a surprising turn lower in August, management said in late September, due to the rising case numbers of the delta variant. The big worry for Bed Bath & Beyond's holiday season is that this trend carried through into the peak selling period.

@3rno You are 100% correct. A bunch of whiners who have no concept about running a major corporation. Could some things be done differently? Sure. But if you're not happy here just leave and go work somewhere else.

I agree that this board is useless. People complain and complain but dont go out and find another job. People think they have the background to run a huge company. They think they understand the stock market. Many people on here seem about 18-22ish and I agree it is probably their first or second job.

3 weeks till earnings.
30-40 stores to close to meet the current commitment.
Accelerated stock buybacks to prevent institutional exodus.
Stock still down 10% YTD.
Increasing debt.
At best dead money.

This board is useless. If it wasn't something I didn't already know, it was something that didn't end up happening. And it's a lot of whining from first time workers and My Pillow trolls. That is all.

taking the company private means someone has to believe in a turnaround story who will put in the right management and invest....oh wait we're not in 2019 anymore.

Step 1: take the company private.
Step 2: allow a private equity to sell off everything that’s left
Step 3: go the way of all of the other retail chains that have closed over the years

there aren't any levers left to pull. time to shut the company down for good. customers recognize they can get the same product at amazon for half the price and they wont have to deal with any of the angry staff we have working in stores. why would anyone want to come to our stores any more?
