My manager let me know that as of this morning I have been put on PIP. I know people always talk about PIP being a tool to get rid of a certain employee and that, if put on PIP, my fate is pretty much sealed at this company, but is it really like that?
Is there anyone who recovered after being put on PIP and managed to keep his job? Is it worth to fight for my job at this point or should I just give up and focus my remaining energy on trying to find a new job? Some advise from people that have been on PIP would be appreciated.

Why did your PIP status come so late…?
Probably YES.
Assuming you’d survived in this PIP, I guarantee you will get the same treatment for next x years, even new boss comes in. They will continue to put you under same category (just for convenience, and to meet the PIP quota) until someone (new boss) really appreciate your work. FYI, I suffered 4 consecutive years in such category (before SG study).
From my experience, yes. I was on PIP, after which I was squeezed and cut. There may have been cases where some have survived PIP, but I only know of one.
