Hilcorp employees in line for $75,000 bonuses after meeting multi-year goals
By DAVID WETHE on 12/12/2021

HOUSTON (Bloomberg) --Oil driller Hilcorp Energy Co. is lavishing $75,000 bonuses on employees as reward for reaching multi-year expansion and production goals.

Workers will receive another $25,000 to donate to charities of their choice, closely held Hilcorp said in a statement on Friday. The explorer controlled by billionaire Jeffrey Hildebrand employs about 3,000 people from Texas to Alaska and plans to pro-rate the payouts for anyone who’s been with the company less than six years.

The reward comes just days after shale driller Devon Energy Corp. announced $10,000 bonuses amid a rebound in the industry’s fortunes following devastating back-to-back oil busts and a pandemic-driven collapse in energy demand.

Hilcorp veterans are no strangers to big rewards: employees received $100,000 bonuses in 2015 and a prior incentive program gave them the choice of a new car or cash.

Don't be fooled by this. It equates to 1,250 a month IF you can survive the company expectations, who expect you to work well over 60 hrs a week and always be on call 24/7, regardless of your postion. Hildebrand is not a good/great guy. It's a tax write off for the company. While his company and pockets doubles, the total employees take less than .01% of the profits. The employees deserve much more for what they put up with. Be happy you are not a part of that company.

The union people are going to be crybabies now? you can't have it both ways, you vote the union in, and they determine who gets a bonus. Too bad so sad.

There are now a couple former XOM folks at Hilcorp. Hilcorp needs Alaska experience. They are a very good company and Hildebrand is a great guy. They need only a few really good people, so most of you would not be hired. Also, It helps alot to know their managers. Most are hired based on their networks and personal recommendations to Hildebrand.

EM also gives goodies to that part of its workforce that is considered to represent value - high potential employees. The problem is that the EM “value” people don’t do work, they put together PowerPoints based on regular employee work, they “network”, try to guess what the higher-ups want to hear and ruthlessly compete with each other for any juicy promotions available.
Companies like Devon or Hilcorp are too small to be able to afford such a wasteful system.
Eventually EM is going to shrink to the same level so something will have to give in.

Congrats to Hilcorp employees! We are the id--ts that stay here & receive nothing from XOM… except triple the work, triple the time on campus & no thanks in return for the work effort.
