Thread regarding ExxonMobil Singapore layoffs

We should all start job hunting.

I don’t want to debate on the subject of whether EM is still a good place to work or not, I have my opinion on that but I’m not going to share it this time.
One thing is a fact though. EM will reduce the employee headcount in the next year or sow in an attempt to allocate certain jobs out of Singapore and into places with a so-called cheaper workforce. Will they achieve that by big waves of organized layoffs, stealth layoffs over a longer period of time, by attrition or whatever, it's anybody's guess. So the bottom line is there will be much less employees at EM Singapore in a relatively short period of time.
In other words, that means that none of the employees will feel safe, even if they avoid layoffs at certain points in time.
The people that I know went job hunting found a new job in 4 to 7 months after they started. That means, if we want to get out of EM by next summer, now is the time to dust of our C Vs and get on the market. I’ll certainly do just that.

I think there are more people who would like to be laid off than those who would like to survive.

More headcount optimisation will come. Even if you survive. The workload is no longer the same anymore. You are expected to live with it until the next layoff cycle.

Next year likely will have higher operating budget to prevent brain drain. This is short term gain but long term you will be force to go
