Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Thank you Progressive

I worked for Allstate for nearly 35 years. Was proud of the work that we did up until about 2017 when Allstate started to really nickel and dime particularly claimants..
A car hit us a few days ago and I prayed that I did not need to deal with Allstates cr-p like paying up front for a rental and their asking me to do their work on the claim damage.
This morning, I worked with Progressive and they got me right into a rental and the process could not have been smoother…..
Thank you Progressive……Thank you for being the way Allstate was years ago….
I am currently insured by Geico who I am happy with but I will share positive thoughts on Progressive as well…particularly with anyone who has the misfortune of having Allstate Insurance….
Allstate wants to win against Geico and Progressive…but will not be successful. Their service is currently the worst in the industry and they will never be able to effectively compete on price…
So sad to see my former company that I bled blue in loyalty for nearly 35 years turned into the joke of the industry…
Thank you Progressive for not putting me through the Allstate ringer!!

@3jcp+1eYK0yi8 My brother in law is a DM or some fancy title for an auto repair company and has many different locations he is responsible for. We had a small birthday dinner yesterday so I asked him about issues with insurance companies and his response was kind of mixed. He said if you are someone that was hit by Allstate they will push back on some repairs, but not if you are the Allstate customer. State Farm he said is really not that bad, Farmers and American Family he had no opinion on since they are small market share and so not many repairs. GEICO and Progressive go back and forth with being the most difficult to work with to the point where some managers at locations if they are busy will give a time estimate that is out far enough they will get sent to another place. They are busy enough that as it is people are waiting a long time, he was telling me about one customers car that one of the parts needed took 6 weeks to arrive, if the part was in stock the car would have been repaired in a week so GEICO was going through the roof wanting constant updates. There was another car where the part needed listed no estimated time of availability so he has no idea what the insurance company is going to do on that one.

@3wui+1eYK0yi8 Well my brothers car was backed into by an id--t neighbor and Allstate handled the claim, it was in the shop within days, thank god parts were available and fixed in a week.

The body show had 3 other cars waiting for repairs, 2 were due to GEICO insisting on refurbished bumpers and other parts, they said they would rather deal with Farmers, State Farm and Allstate than GEICO

I needed to rent a car from Enterprise and Just for giggles I asked the manager who helped me who the worst insurance company is that they deal with. Without hesitation she said ALLSTATE. She said that much of her day is resolving complaints from claimants and insureds and trying to explain why the rental is being cut off or why they owe money for the rental…she said Allstate is the worst and it not even close…
She said that Geico is wonderful to work with…..
Body shops, rental agencies, claimants, insureds, employees …..they all say the same thing….
Allstate has turned into the joke of the industry…

@2vlm+1eYK0yi8, do you really think that Allstate would have done better?
If you are an Allstate claims employee, you know what the employees are told to do…and when you add the long hold times, failure to return phone calls, etc because of understaffing, Progressive at their worst beats what you can expect from Allstate…

Agree w OP. I was with progressive and had a phenomenal experience. Knowing what I know about how we operate I wouldn’t take Allstate regardless of the price. The good body shops won’t even agree to take our vehicles due to how bad we nickel and dime. And on top of that we delay which bogs their lots down. If you have doubts call any body shop and ask how Allstate compares to any other carrier. Property is almost as bad and deteriorating by the day. You can clearly see that there is no longer any talent in the VP arena that has any experience in claims.

Nice that you got lucky, but late last year when someone backed into my parked car they didn't leave a note, video showed the car, license, and driver. LE tracked the person down and I was able to get the insurance info, I called them (progressive) and they denied it was their insureds fault even with the police report, finally after the video they accepted fault but that was 2 weeks with no car. It was then 4 weeks for them to have someone ok the repairs. The auto body shop said this is a common occurrence and Progressive and GEICO are the two insurance companies that are the worst to work with.

As OP sits back in his easy chair, cracks a beer, whines about Allstate….all the while collecting his 401k and pension sitting back in his paid off house which was 10k in 1975 that his Allstate salary paid for. Ok Boomer.
