Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Discrimination

So I recorded a call with a manager the other day in which I was told not to apply for a role due to being a white male. He went on to say they are only hiring minorities for said position. I went ahead and applied and was immediately rejected but have since learned of lesser qualified colleagues got an interview. I’m all about inclusive diversity but this seems so wrong.

@6ptj+1eXgxORC I think I may know the other poster that said that said he was in TA, small world.

It is accurate, we were probably on the same call, it is 100% accurate that minorities are the big push for hiring, and they will fast track minority candidates to the final interview.

So glad I got out with my millions when I did. Now I "check my privilege" @downwiththe patriarchy every day when I see how well my portfolio is doing!

@1nff+1eXgxORC It really isn't, I was in TA and a lot of us have left to various companies, we compare notes and look at this site. What is happening at Allstate as far as discrimination we are not seeing at other companies. We are hiring many diverse candidates but they are being hired on their own merits, maybe because they want to work at our companies and we are getting quality applicants.

This should not be a surprise, TA has been told this quietly for the past year or so. TA has had a document shared with them that talks about how like half the candidates sent to the hiring manager have to be diverse. That means if the hiring manager wants to evaluate 6 for the position 3 need to be diverse, that also means if there are 100 applicants but only 3 are diverse those 3 automatically go to the HM.

Don't forget on the HR call in December they said that 80% of the 2021 hires were diverse. There are many of those hires who I saw hired and are now gone, some realized how messed up the place was, others were not doing well and bolted.

The OP is 100% right.

It is wrong. If your state allows for 1 party consent for recorded calls, you could try your states anti discrimination board for redress. Of course you want to consider if you can continue your current job while you company gets mad at you for reporting. Discrimination goes all ways.
