Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Upgrading skillset

I did not come here with the intention of staying. My idea was to stay just long enough to gain experience that will help me find something better. However, I’m not happy with how much I’ve managed to learn here so far. How did you expand your skillset here? How successful were you at that?

Just curious, if you had other options, why would you work for Walmart anyway?

So, your job is not daycare. There’s plenty of opportunity at Walmart if you do these things: learn your current job well and execute properly without much supervision; foster a good relationship with your supervisor / manager and let them know you’re open to other roles or opportunities; dont partake in petty bickering, keep a good disposition, greet others with a smile; be a good role model for others to copy.

If you do those things you will be pleasantly surprised how fast things can open up for you. Moving up in any company requires a demonstrated commitment on your part.

No one ever got anything worth having without some effort.

I have seen this pretty much seen this everywhere including Walmart: management (I NEVER ever call them leadership) is usually afraid to train their subordinates because they are afraid of the competition. CBLs are tailored for Walmart so you can take the generalizations with you but not the specifics. Walmart seems to lack one major trait: common sense. They find a way to phuck up something simple like wiping their @$$ after taking a sh!t.

Easiest way to move up in your job at Walmart is to sleep with the manager. My manager is a married woman who never gets it from her hubby, here I am. Now I am an assistant manager

Lots of places are hiring now and some will overlook qualifications needed for the job and will train you. I was at Walmart almost almost 10 years and got tired of the BS. Applied to a job that I had no experience in and that required college as well. I did not finish college so no degree but I lucked out and was hired and trained. Now I make more money and work M-F weekends and holidays off. There are jobs out there willing to do the same. Start applying.
