Left last June, better pay to work for an industry vendor. Hate to see the negativity on this board, sounds like the trend has not reversed.
I was nervous to leave. Still work 50-60 hours a week but it’s a much better quality of life. Lower cost but equal quality benefits (odd because it’s a smaller company), generous PTO/Holidays, and a very collaborative environment from the top down - I spent the first few months in disbelief because colleagues across different depts worked so well together, a sign of good leadership. Don’t get me wrong, of course there are issues, but it made me realize Allstate has become toxic.
I’m sharing to remind all that if you’ve been semi-successful at Allstate in recent years, you can find a role better suited for you elsewhere in the industry (not at another carrier, they’re all doing the same thing). Remember, many companies are starting to offer their own insurance (see Toyota, Tesla, Amazon) leveraging emerging technologies.
Won’t be easy but you can do it and it will be worth it. Get off of this website and go on LinkedIn, play the game, go talk to industry recruiters, resume workshops, and practice the STAR interview method. You’ve got this.
