Chances are that Allstate's strategy is to outsource all the positions it can be outsourced. That's my opinion. I hope to get out of here before my job is outsourced as well. I wonder if there are any positions that this company cannot outsource, that is, those that are safe from that?

To the prior comment, I left in July and Underwriting was being streamlined then. Our ability to make or override decisions got yanked.
So I went to progressive making more and much much happier work culture.
Underwriting isn’t safe either. A lot of automation being done. If a bot can be programmed to make a decision, they’ll do it. It’s a matter of time that either UW is automated or outsourced. It’s about saving money, not customers.

Needing to be licensed really isn't a safeguard to keep a job or role in the states. Allstate is using that loophole of if the overseas job is considered an extension of an onshore department then the overseas employees can be licensed just like they were living in the U.S. They have been handing out adjuster, property, and P&C licenses in Pune the last 6-12 months like M&M's to a 1st grade class.

Don't insult 9-5 people by calling them stiffs.
Any and all jobs that don't require a physical presence in the US (either because a person needs to make in-person appearances, needs to live in the US to be licensed, and/or customer facing) will likely be outsourced, that's the vibe I get from senior leadership. This is primarily going to be your administrative work at first and then will develop in time. I'm in Legal, and PUNE is already doing a lot of the background work in our case management program.
They tried to outsource recruiting functions several years and it failed miserably, they have recently tried again for sourcing for recruiting and that failed as well.
The only jobs that will be left for the 9-5 stiffs are restaurant, hospitality, stores, gas stations, bars, sporting / entertainment event workers medical workers that are hands on like nursing, police, fire, and military. …ALL office work will be overseas in this country thanks to greedy scumbags like those running this company. Just a matter of time. It’s been happening for years and it just keeps continuing. Don’t kid yourself.
They should outsource Tom & Glenn.
