Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Is this becoming a mediocrity company?

It’s amazing how little they care about retaining talent. My personal opinion is that GM will regret such treatment of the best people but then it may be too late.

Great people not only don't want to work here because they can have much higher pay elsewhere, but they don't want to be surrounded by mediocrities who are obviously more valued here than they are.

I was thinking the same thing, especially in context of bonuses…

The bonus seems more like an entitlement rather than something you earn.

If you get great review, you get a marginally better bonus.

If you are an average worker, doing just enough to get by, you are probably still getting a full bonus!

If the bonus were 0-based, it would allow bigger reward for best producers.

I work at GM and I wouldn’t consider it low pay. If I can ask what level were you and who has better pay? Genuinely interested.
