Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

It will be harder to beat competitors

I remember when I first started working here, it was generally very important to be ahead of competitors. What's going on now? Does our leadership no longer think it matters or am I missing something?

I work in an agency and while the owner is always complaining about changes they are making that affect his bonus, but he stays because we are constantly beating other companies on rates, the past few years have been the best I have seen as far as my commissions. We have taken some increases but so have the other companies so it really doesn't change much. We just added another LSP in my office from GEICO and she said she is making more money that she did there.

Have you had to file a claim with GEICO or Progressive, never again both times hit by one of their insureds and it was a pain.

They still want to be #1 but rather than get there by innovation and/or the strength of our products and customer service, they're trying to get there by slashing costs. Basically, they're leveraging Allstate's reputation and hoping that new lower rates will attract customers, but they know those same new customers will likely leave when and if they actually file a claim and realize what a horrible experience that is. And we're buying cr-p companies to absorb their customers, because we can't grow our own.
