Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Gaslighting Definition: does this apply to Belk?

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that makes you question your beliefs and perception of reality. It can occur in personal, romantic, in the workplace, or social situations.

Someone who is gaslighting might:

  • Insist you said or did things you know you didn't do
  • deny or scoff at your recollection of events
  • call you "too sensitive" or "crazy" when you express needs or concerns
  • express doubts to others about your feelings, behavior, or state of mind
  • twist or retell events to shift blame on you
  • insist they are right and refuse to consider your facts, feelings, or perspective

Signs you have experienced gaslighting:

  • an urge to apologize all the time
  • believe you cant do anything right
  • frequent stress or anxiety
  • a persistent sense that something isn't right, though you cant identify exactly what's wrong.
