Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Slave to the Money

No, it wasn't worth it.

It is human nature to be wained by money and sell out who you really are, the higher one goes in the organization structure.

I sold out for the money for about a decade and between the monthly trip to San Jose and the constant 13 to 14 hour days, new cars, nice house just believed I was king of the world.

Once my LR hit the party was over and reality kicked in. The now extreme amount of money in the bank and investing accounts is inversely proportional to the poor quality of my family relationships.

The choice is yours to make, and you live with the outcomes.

If I could do it all over again, I would not have drank the kool-aid.

Choose wisely.

Work is an exchange of value, nothing more, nothing less. You have to decide when that exchange no longer makes sense.

Thank you for the perspective. I have been trying to figure out my life for some time and I think it is time to let the money go and let life come back.

You helped change at least one life and perspective today :-)

I have no idea why the comment below has been downvoted. Apparently too many people in the matrix are still taking that blue pill.

This is why the bible mentions not casting pearls before swine.

Any other job in IT would have been similar I guess. They’re all BS jobs, meaning we aren’t contributing to making the world a better place and meaning our jobs are purely artificial. If AWS or FB or Cisco disappears tomorrow, there will be zero real impact to peoples’ lives. Unless you’re truly motivated by a greater purpose in life than making money to spend it on junk you don’t need, your choice to accumulate money with Cisco wasn’t a bad one. We’re all here for a short time only, might as well make it comfy while it lasts.

Sometimes in life you need to pause and reflect on the way you are living your life.
