Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

2021 Comp number sucks

Bonus is down in comparison to 2020 Bonus
Base is up but you need to work full year to get it

Is 24% bonus good on a 140k salary?

I totally agree. MS is living in the dark ages - no longer does it carry the prestige any mystique it once did.

This is not a millennial or Gen Z thing anymore, all age groups feel shortchanged and aren’t standing for it anymore.

Indeed the market is hot. I’ve had 3 interviews since comp day and feel I’m close to an offer with one of them; oh and they’re paying 27K more than MS for the same job.

I truly hope I’m out of MS soon. I won’t be the only one.

2021 bonus was a joke!! I have newly entered associates making more money than old time VP's, especially the ones we transferred from abroad before COVID hit us and we are sponsoring their Visas. These guys are making sh* compared to the market. It's frustrating, I feel once we sponsor the Visa we basically don't care about bringing the salary up to market......

Lot of people are up single digit %, but let's face inflation alone was 7% in US.... So if you have a 4.2% increase it means you actually are making less money now... it is a message.

One less thing... Having been more than 12 yrs here.... I observed that overtime we d-mb up our people, the longer you stay the less marketable you become... So the time to leave is NOW .... The market is HOT

I got a good bonus but 0 raise. Not sure what to think but I guess I should start looking since 0 raise is concerning.

"I worked my but off last year, had an excellent review, yet got a lousy 3.5% raise and bonus I almost wanted to tell them to keep."

Like my manager said: "I can't see your bonus without my glasses".

"I’ve started looking for pastures greener and in this economy it won’t take long. Many more will follow."

That's why they didn't lay anybody off-- people will leave themselves.

One word comes to mind for the 2021 bonus. Insulting!
I worked my but off last year, had an excellent review, yet got a lousy 3.5% raise and bonus I almost wanted to tell them to keep.

I’m not ranting, I’m angry.

I’ve started looking for pastures greener and in this economy it won’t take long. Many more will follow.

See you later MS.

"Good review and exceeding expectations only to get 4.2% total increase."
I would leave it's indeed total comp 4.2% increase. Real inflation in 15% ffs and the market is hot.

Good review and exceeding expectations only to get 4.2% total increase.
Anyone else in back office get more than that?
