Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Should I join Raytheon Technologies, please advise

Hello,

I don't know anyone at Raytheon Technologies. I got an offer for an engineering position. Can you please tell me more about the company and management? I have kids and family so what am looking for is a stable company without layoff every other week or so. I am looking for a long-term career plan for my next move if I decide to join Raytheon Technologies

I appreciate all of your help.

Raytheon United, United Tech held more shares in the merger. From my experience, they will chop Raytheon into pieces. Most layoffs are during the holidays, so they don't have to give holiday pays in the package. It's a sh---y company overall, most managers are "yes men," they sign time and doing 5S and ACE.

It will take a long time for things to settle after the merger. This won't be a viable company to work for anywhere from 5 to 10 years. It took at least that long for things to settle after Raytheon Acquired some Hughes divisions, and destroyed a really good engineering environment.
The one unknown variable is that Raytech becomes a "Unicorn" in Hypersonic tech development and the government subsequently dumps oodles of money in contracts to them. But, I sincerely doubt that. Those kinds of Hughes Aircraft days are over. My advice from one engineer to another is to do work for a Tier 2 or sub-prime contractor that specializes in one product sector you'll enjoy working in, deal with a lower wage but learn a lot, and look again in 4-5 years.

The company turned to complete garbage after the merger.

What you may not know is that maybe 90% of the people who posts here (i.e. giving you the "alternative" facts) work in McDonald's, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. So many may be confused as to why you seek guidance here. I take responses here with a "grain of salt". LOL

What's wrong with that!? this website is monitored by both former and current employees, and this is the best place to get feedback from as many people who knows the company as possible! what's wrong with that!!? Where else should people ask questions!? come on! just answer the question or pass my post!

The fact you went to a website called the layoff with multiple threads talking about how discoordinated and dysfunctional this company is and asked if you should get a job here really amazes me.

i am not looking to grow my position cause I already grew to a level where I don't want to grow further. Super happy with my salary history and don't want to grow to higher positions. Just want to do the technical work and be an engineers. is this company stable enough to do that?

You're looking to join a company that just completed a "merger". Technically the top executives are dominated by Heritage UTC. The heritage UTC put that company 14 billion in debt. They're putting all their eggs in one basket for product lines to be sold with Hypersonic technology.
Now being on the outside looking in, its tough to say if they're stable or not. If you're looking for a job where you grab your ankles every day with no lube, but have a stable long term position with cr-p raises then Raytech is for you. If you're actually looking to grow your career as an engineer, fat chance.
