This is so unbelievably concerning to see even the HR team implode. It does confirm many issues and the lack of HR support however and why the merger from a people management perspective has been so poor.

The HR department is absolutely deplorable and toxic. The ring leader of the Mean Girls’ Club (FM), is not only incompetent and unqualified, she’s bullied, manipulated, and created an environment of fear. And it doesn’t stop there…she continues to hire her incompetent friends.
SA and AP, please address this disgusting behaviour! You’ve already lost many good people who are tarnishing CVE’s reputation (especially in HR).
Bangs is head of the mean girls but in disguise. She wears the white hat but allows the ridiculous behaviour below her. The demise of HR started when she took over.
So is Bangs being forced out by the Mean Girls? HR has way too many “Senior Specialists”….whatever that is. Is a Senior Specialist in HR someone who has a useless degree in Philosophy or photos of a VP in a compromising position? I don’t even know what the qualification and educational requirements are for an HR Senior Specialist, but they sure seem to own the upper decks at Cenovus!
The best is when they post a position in replacement of someone who still works there, same title and job description….Talk about awkward.
Or when they put someone intenally to replace senior person that has left but doesn’t pay that person a senior level even though they are performing at senior level but yet people are getting promoted to senior specialist that we’re doing the same job as just a specialist.
Or when they hire their friend to lead a group that had NO EXPERIENCE in that particular area at all.
Or when there’s been numerous comaplaints about one specific person but they keep covering it up and just firing those ppl that complain.
Ge-z I could go on…..I’m waiting for this to be deleted.
I’m ashamed to put Cenovus down on my resume. I don’t want to be tied to the people that butchered that HR department. Thank god I’m out.
Most unqualified senior leaders I have ever seen in HR. They have trashed that place.
You’ll know who the mean girls are….All You have do is look at their title under that one specific director they are now either senior specialist or senior managers that got promoted in less than a year or if we were back in the office they would all be sitting together and going out at lunch to shop aritizia. They got to where they are now not by hard work, it was either from taking credit for other peoples work and brown nosing their way up. It’s those girls that speak up during meetings giving each other kudos.
HR is beyond fixing. You would have to get rid of everyone and start over!
Speaking of the worst people in HR… LM is pure trash. Not sure how she sleeps at night.
The funny thing about HR is how they look after themselves. They are all senior specialists and highly/overpaid and over promoted. Do we really need all these senior specialists with their huge salaries just to wander around and lay people off? When has anyone from HR ever actually helped an employee? That’s rhetorical by the way.
Couldn’t agree more. They have ruined the reputation of Cenovus. The HR community is small in Calgary and the word has gotten around. Good luck finding a job after….all those people you either fired or packaged out in the last 6 years have dispurssed in all industries other than oil & gas…everyone has heard about these people lol….that’s why they are all hanging on for their dear life. They have nowhere to go after!
What IS the deal with HR at Cenovus? Last time I checked, this was an oil and gas company, not an HR Consulting Firm. Yet, there are probably two HR employees for every subsurface technical employee…you know, the people actually trained to find oil and gas. While almost every one of our competitors out there are hiring geoscientists, technologists and engineers, Cenovus continues padding the HR depth charts and adding layer upon layer of management.
FM is far from fabulous. I hope SA figures this out sooner than later for the benefit of person kind.
Why this company even needs an HR department is beyond my comprehension when their only job is to put together layoff packages. Outsource!

way! LMP, FM, JT & KP! Only HR can have
that many Directors and Senior Managers…they
buy their loyalty. It is the worst HR behaviour
ever and SW allowed it. Speak up and you'll be
fired. Maybe after SW is gone and protecting all
of them then someone will actually see it for
what it is. Clock is ticking.
