Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

What is the chance of surviving PIP?

I can't believe that someone who drastically improves their performance gets laid off in the end. However, many tell me that those who are placed on PIP hardly manage to survive. I would love to hear others' experiences: How to survive PIP and what to do to survive PIP?

I jumped ship to another company recently; I was surprised to learn that this madness at IOL has become infamous throughout the industry. Way to absolutely destroy your reputation IOL. I had engineers from my new employer tell me to check out layoffs.com lol. Keep digging your grave!

I am already hearing of people failing the PIP and getting their walking papers this week.
If you were assessed as “good” this year, you will be NI or NSI next year. There will ve room at the bottom to fill in during the next assessment period.

I think people are missing the point about passing and I doubt the 90% that’s been advertised is straightforward.

If you get PIP’d your career here will be marked moving forward. You thought the 3% raises this year were bad, well expect no raises at all moving forward; no growth opportunities; no recognition of your work; and no interesting projects.

This whole PIP program at IOL is just to meet quotas set out by the real management and cultural leadership in Dallas. You will find more growth and purpose elsewhere, so leave when your market value is highest.

Well this past year probably skews it a bit but majority of the end of year 2020 PIP people had passed and company can technically claim 90% of whatever high numbers they touted were technically true but a month or so later when country studies executed those passed PIP people most of them were then let go.

So yes on one hand they can show wow look at the PIP success rate and making staff go through months of rigor with intention to just send them out through the layoff. #Winning!

Now with no layoff program who knows what that’ll look like this year, In Canada we typically have a couple of years of “recovery”, if your US based you have less security unless new programs come about like whenever CS&I executes.
