Still a better option to leave EMIT now

Left for Amazon after 13 years. Its been about a month and I havent looked back. XOM was a great place to work in the 2005-20017 range. The regime of the EMIT LT is a red flag for how things will shake out in the next 10-15 year. This time range is critical for me as I look to retire (I am US based). LT has lots of expats or others who really do not care or are so close to retirement they will repeat anything to keep employed. After the firings this year, under the guise of "long term fit," the company showed its hand and so did the EMIT LT. There is really no reason to stay in EMIT and everyone should be looking for a new job or at leasat start updating your resume and LI profile. I was shocked after I submitted my 2 weeks...the number of people asking me for advise on leaving was surprising.

Of course we say congrats to people leaving. There are still actual humans working in EMIT who wish the best for coworkers… it’s hard to work with people for decades and not view many of them as friends. Smh at some of the comments.

@2uap+1e2s1TNu and? Seems like they changed a lot especially with all of the outsourcing.

"EMIT won't last 3 years in current form"

I remember saying that in 2008.

Who’s said anything about not looking back? I suspect most people are like me—watching the entertaining death spiral of a once-legendary titan-of-a-company insert Michael Jackson popcorn meme/GIF

EMIT won't last 3 years in current form and will be renamed of course.
So, OP, if you come back to the board in 5 years,
no one will know what you are talking about.

Some people probably just want to know what happened after they left the company ? maybe things will get better after EM will announce the promising salary raise next month and some people probably will not proceed with their plan to resign...even if you stay, it is also a decision that you've made after evaluating the pros and cons...if the cons outweigh the pros, then you know that staying should not be your option...

It’s funny how people continue to say they haven’t looked back, but they are here on this board posting…

While I largely agree with you, there definitely were people we let go of for organizational fit. I know several people that that happened to, and they were people supporting old tech that needed/needs to be replaced. Moving them anywhere else meant paying them a CL27 salary to do the work of a CL23.
