Thread regarding 3M layoffs

HIS had layoffs early 2021 but now is trying to higher for 400+ open positions . Is this normal

Does HIS operate this way often? Waves of layoff and crazy amount of néw highers. It makes the division seem unstable

a lot of middle management are doing their best with po-p flung at them from above, they can only commit to a certain level of achievement, be kind to your manager

Please haul your sorry ar-e back in the lab or manufacturing plant and do something useful for the company in this time of crisis !

We don't need more resource allocators, report collators, PowerPoint gurus and other such non productive people right now. We need people that actually add value to the company.

How is the Advance 3M operating model helping to revive its lagging share price?!?

It is a big mess in the reorg of the factories. Even operators are leaving.

nobody wants it,, and how can R take his big payoff when the company is on a slide for the next 12-18 months, watch out for the share price going down 10-15 usd in the second week of november,, it might not bounce back ever,, the new norm will be $145 from february onwards,, the big crash could happen in November next year

This division is constantly hiring. I would stay away personally.

The retrenchment of older workers, and then replaced by newer ones here is very true. But frankly i dont see the newer people would integrate to the culture. Most likely they will leave sooner or later.

You must mean “hire” not “higher”?

Not normal.

However this is a cost saving measure, after all cost of hiring new, less experienced employees is way less than cost of retaining more experienced employees.

Only problem is that with current state of affairs, many new hires will leave in few years, just like what is happening in rest of 3M.....there is no escape !!
