Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

The Great 2020 Thanksgiving Severance Deposit

One year ago it was one last sm--k in the face by this vile company on the thousands, many more than the lowball 3800 reported, that were needlessly and ridiculously laid off during a global pandemic. Like we were supposed to be "thankful" being paid an overly taxed pittance of a severance when they had no justification nor business aside from Tommy and Glenn's wallets to lay anyone off at all during that time. Karma will eventually come to these abhorrent evil souls that did this. Not just with the layoffs but the smarmy and slimy decision to deposit the severance on Thanksgiving of all days. But in hindsight I wouldn't have expected anything less from these scumbags. Way to be classy Allstate!

OP didn't see what a blessing that was. When I got laid off by a different company before the downturn in 2008, I got 1 week of paid severance to keep us "employed" into the next month to be able to keep our health insurance a little longer, despite 12 years at the company.

Allstate may be a sh-t show, but at least they were pretty generous with the severance.

Some of us were fortunate enough to come from states where we could get the elevated pandemic unemployment and severance. Some actually banked quite a bit of money, got away from the poisons of Allstate, and got better jobs. Many of us made out like bandits looking back .

On the bright side, they laid us off during a time when unemployment was paying way above normal and right before the job market heated up to the best it's been in decades... Could have been worse.
