An atmosphere of fear

I don't know how they managed to instill fear of losing jobs and controlling people in that way???

In essence, SF should be afraid that people will reach the breaking point and leave without thinking from here, because I doubt they could easily hire equally good employees. It’s time for people to rebel against that fear they impose on us because they don’t know any other way to get the best out of employees.

I find it hilarious that the newbies are posting how the older employees are technology challenged when every day i get calls from a newby asking me to do something that is "Their job". I literally have to explain to them that its their job my department doesn't handle that. They are so stupid on claims they don't even know what they are responsible for doing. It's a joke. Say what you want about the old employees but we are the ones handling the claims and fixing your mistakes.

I worked for State Farm for 10 years as an injury claims specialist tier 3. I was forced to retire as the stress was overwhelming and caused me to have terrible anxiety. As an injury specialist they required you to answer 2 phone lines with attorneys on the other end, With no training in certain States as Calls continue to Come in on the 2nd line. The metrics are set up for you to fail, And the managers are lazy and don't really assist you. Most of my friends that have been there 10 years or longer have all retired due to this stress and unprofessional customer service. I felt bad for the injured party as I did not have time to give them my full attention due to the metrics set for my department.

After 14 years, out of which the last three have been in detrimental of my health; I have realized that I waited too long to move on. However, that does not mean I can’t get out now.
Finances in order or not it is scary thing to do but I am going to push myself out of my comfort zone and take a leap of faith, trust my own abilities and part away.
SF was a great company once and I am sure the CEO has a bigger picture and a plan for the company to make it another 100 years but today; I would no recommend anyone to work for current leadership.

The tenured folks may not maneuver around a smartphone like the newbies. But we were busy learning silly things like policy wording and meaning, legal liability concepts, insurance regulation, settlement negotiation, and customer contact skills. We didn’t have hundreds of mandatory “templates”. We were expected to communicate our thoughts verbally or in writing in such a way that customers and associates could understand it.

They’ve already ran off the majority of tenured people. The claim handling that’s going on is completely illegal. I wouldn’t doubt if executive ends up having to resign.

As one of the newbies I have observed the longer tenured employees tend to be technologically challenged, slow, preoccupied with the past and generally easily replaceable, IMO.

The newbies will soon learn. They promise you the moon; then, pull the carpet out from under you right before you reach that goal. Then, they take the money after all the work you did and put it in management and executive bonuses. Moral of the story....Don't believe anything they say!

State Farm is getting worse. They have burned through a ton of good job candidates in their hubs and are closing offices full of highly experienced people who cannot easily be replaced. It's maybe 1 in 5 managers who are actually worth a damn in general, that ratio drops depending on the department. In CCC the rate is probably something like 1 in 10. The company's falling apart but the full extent of the damage is not visible yet.

The bad part of the whole concept of rebellion against fear will cause one to go off the deep end. It's just a matter of time. Working in fear creates a lack of trust which in turn leads to paranoia. Mix all that with substance abuse and self medicating, the results are catastrophic.

It's not only that way at State Farm. Our country is in peril. Leadership at all levels in all aspects of our economy do not have any moral compass. Their policies lead to chaos because it is all about me now rather than about us which creates value. The only way I see a turn around is give them their chaos. They'll learn really fast.

More people have to start saying “no” to all the unreasonable demands and stand up for themselves or nothing will change for the better for anyone anywhere. At least try saying “no” before you absquatulate.

For the last several years SF has focused on filling seats rather than focusing on hiring quality employees and providing proper training. It doesn't make sense, but Executive leadership must be achieving whatever it is they're aiming for since they aren't concerned about making positive changes.

Bakersfield OC closed its doors today and all of the experience with them....but no worries, we can replace them with the HS dropouts we are hiring in the hubs in 6 months from now.
