I prefer to be optimistic about the situation and say that Sabre will get through this and though there may be some tough RIFs to come, I know that Sabre has tough, resilient people that will land on their feet. There is life after Sabre.

However, the realist in me recognizes that business climate for Sabre and the entire travel industry will not be very favourable for the foreseeable future. The AirCentre divestiture is very different from previous ones. When Sabre sold off the Tulsa data centre to EDS, it made sense because it freed up a lot of capital and gave Sabre more flexibility. Tulsa wasn't a profit center and selling it was consistent with industry trends at the time of outsourcing non-core competencies. Similarly, when Sabre sold off Travelocity, it also made sense because that business was on a downward trajectory and was losing market share to Expedia. (Why that was is another matter, of course. One could easily draw parallels between Travelocity's fall from pioneering industry leader to also-ran and Sabre's own story vis-a-vis Amadeus.) In contrast, AirCentre had been profitable (at least before the pandemic) and was something that distinguished it from competitors like TravelPort.
