IBM is no longer in the Cloud business. This has been stated multiple times by the IBM Execs. IBM is back in the business of selling software, whatever that means.

If Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Apple were only B2B, their numbers would stink too.

Much more to Cloud than just the 3 hyperscalers. SFDC, SNOW, WD, etc. IBM needs a cloud strategy that isn't just DB2 and MQ on OCP. And fast.

Tom Rosamilia (SVP of Cloud & Cognitive, now IBM Software), was very clear on his All-Hands call that IBM no longer competes with the big Cloud providers because we can't since the IBM Cloud is essentially just the Financial Cloud that pretty much no companies use.

And why do you think IBM is renaming the Cloud and Cognitive (C&CS) division to IBM Software? It is called capitulation!

From this point on, IBM is back into buying companies right and left, to try to increase it revenues mid-single digits to make good on the promise it made at the last Investor Briefing.

Brace for more layoffs in Q1 2022.

This is the reason why IBM has stopped trying to compete with the hyperscalers… they are now partners!
