The past decade, many banks tried to promote themselves at tech companies who do banking, as opposed to banks who use technology.
this had the effect of drawing in much tech talent that otherwise wouldve stayed away. Just rebrand sh-t DIGITAL and then we were cool.
Alas, the good tech guys realized it is, in fact, just a bank that uses technology. And comes with all the bureaucracy and cost cutting that youd expect at any big bank.
Every bank was claiming they were developing and implementing robotics. How did that work out? It began as a Deloitte PPT and took on a life of its own, at every bank, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

It is super hard to even get applicants for the jobs we are allowed to post.
I had two ED females resign this month, going to do stay at home mom route and live on husbands income. I dont blame them. They didnt want jab or having to work in office.
But I am not allowed to replace those positions.

im not sure ive heard of any layoffs that weren't related to those two above acquisitions.
voluntary attrition though is very very high right now, and many roles not being backfilled
